Shopping on O'Connell Street

O'Connell Street is the main thoroughfare in Dublin City centre and one of the widest streets in Europe. It’s one of the main shopping areas in Dublin with everything from Irish gifts, books and jewellery to high street fashion and designer clothing.

If you’re looking for Irish made gifts, you’ll easily find a large selection of Irish hand cut crystal, Irish knitwear and the always popular tweed, linens, pottery and craft items. There are several big department stores on O’Connell Street like Clearys, Arnotts and Debenhams, where you can find everything you’ll need in one location.

Irish shops generally open from 9.00am to 5.30pm or 6pm, Monday to Saturday, and close on Sunday. In Dublin, Thursday is a late shopping night and many shops in the city centre remain open until 8pm. Some of the larger shops also open on Sundays.
